It is possible to break down the sulphates present in the water, thanks to sulphates waste water treatment. This is done through some special chemical treatments and the use of specialty chemicals, in order to reach restrictive local limits that differ from country to country.
Sulphates are normally found in different concentrations in natural waters. In the aluminum industry, the pollution from sulphates present in the water comes, for example, from washing cans, carried out by using acid detergents.
CIE has patented the use of a specific process that is very effective in the waste water system. PURAL combines both conventional chemistry and unique substances capable of removing over 80% of sulphates.
For this reason the overall performance of the system is able to provide absolutely excellent water quality. In addition, the process that uses zero discharge technology allows CIE wastewater treatments to reduce water pollution, eliminating sulphates by about 90%. The water thus treated is practically free of sulphates and can be sent to the alkaline section in place of 100% fresh water.
The technology of CIE systems is based on an advanced process using innovative chemicals. These are capable of absorbing oil and wetting agents and precipitating sulfates as a total insoluble complex.
However, if hard water contains a lot of sulphates, it will lower the quality of the surface treatment performed on metals. Water with high salinity and conductivity must therefore always be pre-treated before further surface treatments of metals.
